Thankful to the veterans, both past and present.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard among the guns below,

We are the Dead.  Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To your from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

This weekend was my high school reunion.  It was an interesting experience.   I love it when people say you  look exactly the same.  It makes you wonder how bad you must have looked 40 years ago.

It's amazing to see how people have blossomed and how much we've done.  What a variety of life paths.  Those of us who felt invisible in high school are certainly not that way now.  I wish the microphone had gone to some of those incredible people, instead of the so-called "popular" kid who just told stories about himself, who he kissed, and what mischief he and his friends got into all those years ago.

I was telling a friend from Seattle that I guess I was anti-social in high school and she laughingly answered "You think???"  So  that answers that.  It's regrettable to have spend those years just waiting for high school to end so I could get on with my real life, but that's what I did.  I'm glad my kids didn't.
